Youth & Children’s Ministries

Children are an important part of the community here at First Baptist. Because they are a “heritage of the Lord” and a “reward” from him (Psalm 127:3), children are to be treasured. During every service, we happily provide nursery care for infants and children up to three years old. Three different nurseries, separated by age and development and staffed by trained workers, allow for a comfortable, safe place for your child to sleep, eat, or play during the service.

Puppet Ministry

Once a month during our Sunday morning service, children four years old through fourth grade receive a special Bible message from the teens who serve in our puppet ministry.

Orchestra & Children’s Choir

These two ministries enhance our worship services and sharpen our focus on God. Any child from 1st grade through 8th grade can join the children’s choir. Any instrumentalist who is a member of the church and has had a year of beginning band, orchestra, or lessons can join the orchestra.

Junior Church

Jesus set the example for loving children when He blessed them in Matthew 19, saying, “Suffer the little children, and forbid them not, to come unto me: for of such is the kingdom of heaven.” Just as Jesus placed a significant value on children, we desire to impact the lives of this special age group. It is a joy to see children in Junior Church trust Jesus as their Savior and grow in their faith. During the Sunday morning worship service, our four and five year olds listen to Bible and missionary stories, sing, and learn about their Creator God. First- through fourth-grade children meet separately to review what they’ve learned from previous weeks and to learn new challenges from the Bible. They also have a time to sing and work on memory verses.

The AWANA program is based on reaching children with the gospel of Christ and training them to serve Him. A consistent gospel message is wrapped around a time of fun-filled games, a time of scripture memory, and a time centered around a lesson from God’s Word. Parents are always welcome, and several annual events offer unique opportunities for everyone to join in the fun. Children three years old through sixth grade are invited to attend our AWANA clubs on Wednesdays from 6:30-7:45pm (August through May). First Baptist offers an abbreviated children’s program through the summer months. • Awana Registration FormAwana 2015-16 Calendar

Sunday School

“Sanctify them through thy truth: thy word is truth” (John 17:17). The mission of our children’s Sunday School is to lay a firm foundation by teaching our children to know Christ and the undying love He has for them. Every Sunday morning from 9:30-10:20, classes are available to children of all ages. These are age-focused small groups where the children receive concentrated Bible teaching.

First Baptist Christian School

fbcslogoFirst Baptist Christian School is an educational ministry of First Baptist Church. The purpose of the school is to glorify God through evangelizing, edifying, and educating young people. As an arm of the church, the school seeks to assist parents in the development of young lives for the glory of God.

The purpose behind our youth ministry at First Baptist is to help parents train their children to know and love God. We are passionate to see God’s glory displayed through every youth meeting and activity. By God’s grace, it is our prayer that all the teens at First Baptist will learn to walk daily with God and be like “a tree planted by streams of water that yields its fruit in its season” (Psalm 1:3). Our youth department seeks to train and motivate teens to:

  • Passionately love God and His Word with all of their heart
  • Unselfishly serve God and others with all of their abilities
  • Genuinely honor and obey their God-given authorities
  • Actively share the Gospel of Jesus through redemptive relationships
  • Consistently pursue personal purity and holiness
